Allison Lau
Allison Lau is an award-winning multimedia journalist specializing in digital, broadcast and documentary video production and editing.

In her reporting, she has told the stories of formerly incarcerated people, marginalized communities, undocumented immigrants, as well as sex workers and trafficked survivors. She is passionate about stories at the intersection of social justice, identity and culture. Her work has appeared in several publications including NBC News, CNBC, The New Yorker, Vogue, Vanity Fair, VICE, Huffington Post, The Advocate, Wired, GQ, Glamour, Allure, among others.

Allison's work was nominated for two Gracie awards at CNBC, as well as Digiday's "Greater Good Award" at NBC News. In 2017, she won the Editor & Publishers' EPPY Award for best investigative documentary for her leadership and reporting on the closure of New York City's notorious jail Rikers Island, the Society of Professional Journalists' National Award for outstanding online reporting, Columbia Journalism School's Peter Keller Excellence in Editing Award and a Remi Award at the Houston International Film & Video Festival.

Originally from California, Allison holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism where she graduated with honors in video production and has a bachelor's in Literary Journalism from the University of California, Irvine.
