Allison Lau
Allison Lau is an award-winning multimedia journalist specializing in long and short form digital video production.
​
She is passionate about LGBTQ, gender non-binary and social justice issues. In her reporting, she has featured formerly incarcerated people, marginalized communities, undocumented immigrants, and sex trafficked victims. Her work has appeared in CNBC, VICE, Vogue, Glamour, Vanity Fair, GQ, The Advocate, The New Yorker, among others.
 
In 2017, she was awarded Columbia Journalism School's Peter Keller Editing Award, the Society of Professional Journalists' national award for outstanding online reporting, and the Editor & Publisher's EPPY award for her reporting on the closure of Rikers Island. She was also recognized by the Houston International Film & Video Festival for the satirical news production, "The American Affair."

A California native, Allison earned her bachelor's degree at the University of California, Irvine and her master's degree at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where she specialized in video storytelling.
