Allison Lau is an award‑winning multimedia journalist and video producer with experience across digital, broadcast, and documentary platforms. She specializes in visually compelling, socially impactful storytelling that centers marginalized voices, socio‑economic issues, and underrepresented communities.

Her reporting spans a wide range of topics at the intersection of social justice, identity, and culture — including immigration, sex work, racial equity, and economic displacement. Allison currently works at CNN across its digital feature verticals. Her work has appeared in major outlets such as NBC News, CNBC, VICE, Vogue, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, WIRED, HuffPost, Glamour, Allure, and GQ.

Her storytelling has earned multiple industry honors, including two Gracie Award nominations and recognition as a Digiday Greater Good Award finalist at NBC News. She received Editor & Publisher’s EPPY Award for “Best Investigative Documentary” for her coverage of New York City’s Rikers Island jail system, along with national recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists and Columbia Journalism School’s Peter Keller Award for Excellence in Editing.

Originally from California, Allison holds an M.S. in Journalism with honors in video production from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. in Literary Journalism from the University of California, Irvine.
